Herbert Stiller Prize for breast cancer on-chip researcher Featured

Prof. Dr. Peter Loskill from the Natural and Medical Sciences Institute (NMI) at the University of Tübingen and the Medical Faculty of the Eberhard Karls University of Tübingen has been awarded this year's Herbert Stiller Prize by the animal rights organization Doctors Against Animal Experiments.


In this project, the researcher has combined human primary breast cancer organoids with adipose tissue to develop an immunocompetent breast cancer-on-chip model. The platform is used to study the interactions between adipose tissue and breast tumor to determine the effect on breast cancer progression. In addition, using patient-specific material, influences of disease states, age or ethnicity can be investigated.

The award is worth 20,000 euros.
