London: LUSH Prize winners notified Featured

During the annual Lush Prize Conference took place on Thursday 10th November 2016, the this year´s winner of the LUSH prize were notified. 17 winners from 9 counries are able to share £300,000 of prize money.

The 5 winners in the category "young researchers" are Giorgia Pallocca from Constance University, Germany, Pranjul Shah from the University of Luxembourg, Eleftheria Pervolaraki from the University of Leeds, UK, Katherine Chapman from the Swansea University, UK and Antje Appelt-Menzel from the University Hospital of Würzburg, Germany. Each prize winner receives £10,000.

2016 LUSH increased the fund for this prize category from £50,000 to £150,000, providing £10,000 each for 15 young researchers in three different regions (USA, Asia and Rest of the World).
The 5 winners from USA has already been introduced. The winners of the Young Researchers Asia award, with a further £50,000 of prize money, will be announced in Seoul on 18th November.
 
In der category "Lobbying" the this year´s prize winners are:  
the 1R Institute of Promotion and Research for the Replacement of Animal Experimentation Brasil, and People for Animals India.

In the category "Public Awareness" Vshine Animal Protection Association, China, and the journal ALTEX – Alternatives to Animal Experimentation, Switzerland, has won the prize.

In the category "Science", Dr. Daniele Zink and Dr. Lit-Hsin Loo from Institute of Bioengineering and Nanotechnology resp. from the Bioinformatics Institute of the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR) in Singapore was honoured.

Further, Prof Marcel Leist from Constance University who is also the leader of CAAT-Europe is one of the winner.

In the category "training" Kirkstall UK and the Iranian Anti-Vivisection Association, Iran, have won the prize.
