    Scientific employee (m/f/d)
    EG 13/14 TV-L; full-time (39,8 h); limited for 2 years, an extension is possible

    in the Institute of Food Quality and Safety (LMQS) in the research group of Prof. Dr. Bettina Seeger. Starting date: 01.11.2022

    The temporary employment takes place with the aim of further training as a specialist veterinarian in pharmacology and toxicology or as a specialist toxicologist according to DGPT.

    Responsibilities

    • Research activities: performing cell culture experiments (differentiation of stem cells into different target cells, such as neurospheres, motor and sensory neurons, and Schwann cells
    • Execution of molecular biological and biochemical methods
    • Acquisition of external funding and writing of scientific publications
    • Student training and teaching of courses

    Research subject

    Our research group is particularly involved in the development of stem cell-derived animal-free innovative models for neurotoxicology and infectiology.

  • Qualifications:

    Requirements

    • Scientific university degree in veterinary medicine or biology, biochemistry, human medicine, biomedicine, molecular biology, toxicology, or a comparable discipline
    • Completed doctoral degree
    • Publications in international peer-reviewed journals and presentation activity at international congresses

    Required expertise and personal skills

    • Experience in cell biology/cell culture (stem cells and neuronal cells would be desirable but are not a prerequisite), biochemical and molecular biology methods (immunofluorescence, western blot, qPCR, PCR, flow cytometry, cell-based assays,...).
    • Interest in genetic engineering S2 project management (experience in genetic engineering of cells and handling of reporter gene assays is advantageous, but not a requirement)
    • Very good communication skills, ability to work under pressure, ability to work in a team as well as willingness to take responsibility, lead and perform well
    • Very good knowledge of German and English, both written and spoken

    The employment contract is subject to the collective agreement for the public service (TV-L); payment is according to pay group 13/14 TV-L depending on personal qualification.
