ORIVA is housed within the Division of Program Coordination, Planning, and Strategic Initiatives (DPCPSI) in the Office of the Director (OD) at the NIH and will pursue a two-pronged approach. One track will support innovation within the research community by developing new funding opportunities, research infrastructure, and training resources. The other will coordinate an interagency initiative to facilitate the evaluation and adoption of new research methods.
The National Interagency Center for the Evaluation of Alternative Test Methods (NICEATM), which is responsible for promoting new methodological approaches, will continue its work under the newly created NIH Office of Research Innovation, Validation, and Application (ORIVA). This office will play a crucial role in coordinating NIH-wide efforts to develop, validate, and expand the application of human-based approaches across all NIH biomedical research. Since NICEATM will no longer be part of the National Toxicology Program (NTP), it will be known as D-NICEATM in the future.
ORIVA is also offering five very interesting postdoctoral positions. These positions are open to U.S. citizens, individuals with lawful permanent resident status, and foreign nationals. Information on the individual positions can be found on the job postings webpage (see below).
