First professorship in Austria for alternatives to animal testing Featured

Dr. Winfried Neuhaus, the Principal Scientist at the Austrian Institute of Technology and president of the European Society for Alternatives to Animal Testing (EUSAAT), has been appointed University Professor for 3Rs and New Approach Methodologies (NAMs).

The professorship is located at the Danube Private University in Krems on the Danube. Dr. Neuhaus will focus on 3Rs as well as New Approach Methodologies (NAMs). For Austria, it is the first professorship for 3Rs and non-animal research, at least, a tenure-track position for the 3Rs topic has been announced at Johannes Kepler University in Linz, and there is funding from the state to establish a state-owned 3Rs center, as well as the awarding of a state prize for alternative methods to animal experimentation this year.
