European Union: Validation Authority seeks members for Scientific Advisory Committee Featured

The European Validation Authority EURL ECVAM is seeking members for its expert group ESAC (EURL ECVAM Scientific Advisory Committee) to advise the European Commission on issues related to non-animal methods.

The tasks of ESAC are to assess the scientific validity of non-animal methods; to advise on scientific issues related to the work of EURL ECVAM and the protection of animals used for scientific purposes; and to share knowledge and experience on non-animal methods/approaches in science.

Requirements include - amongst others - a postgraduate degree (e.g. PhD) in a relevant scientific field and at least 10 years of professional experience (post-doctoral) in a relevant field. There will also be considered proven and relevant skills and experience in for example toxicology, ecotoxicology, biochemistry, medicine, chemistry, pharmacology, biotechnology, molecular biology, biostatistics, modeling, and artificial intelligence/machine learning.

Furthermore, demonstrated and relevant expertise and experience are sought, including at the European and/or international level, in areas relevant to non-animal methods/approaches (e.g. In vitro methods, in silico/computational methods, novel approaches (NAMs), artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (deep learning), organ-on-chip, microphysiological systems, "omics", defined approaches (DAs), integrated approaches to testing and evaluation (IATA), adverse effect pathways (AOP), etc.).
