Berlin: Research Prize "Alternatives to Animal Testing" Announced Featured

Together, the Senate Administration for Justice, Consumer Protection and Anti-Discrimination, the State Office for Health and social affairs (LaGeSo) as well as the Association of Research-based Pharmaceutical Companies are announcing the Berlin Prize for the Promotion of Research into Replacement and Supplementary Methods to Animal Experiments. The closing date for applications is 30 September 2019.


The prize, endowed with 30,000 euros, is awarded for outstanding scientific work in the field of research and teaching that can contribute verificably to the complete replacement or to decrease resp. significantly reduce the suffering of laboratory animals.

This also includes projects that pick up existing approaches to develop them further in such a way that they can be widely applied in practice (pre-validation or validation).

Until September 30, 2019, research institutions, companies or persons engaged in scientific activities based in Berlin and Brandenburg may apply with their planned or planned current research projects.
