DFG supports 3D tissue construct research Featured

Starting in April 2019, the German Research Foundation will fund a new Research Training Group at RWTH Aachen University. It is going to investigate mechanisms of the formation of border or cover tissues. The basic research results will contribute to the development of complex tissue models that can be used for drug development and the replacement of animal experiments.

The Research Training Group ("Graduiertenkolleg", GRK) with the title "Mechanobiology of Epithelial 3-D Tissue Constructs" conducts basic research with epithelia to elucidate the mechanisms that enable the development and properties of epithelia. Speaker is Professor Rudolf Leube, Director of the Institute of Molecular and Cellular Anatomy at RWTH Aachen University.

The GRK is one of a total of 15 that will be funded with 71 million euros for an initial period of four and a half years.
