Organs on demand for medical training Featured

The Karl Landsteiner Private University for Health Sciences in Krems/Danube has started a research project. With a 3D printer the researchers want to print realistic organ models for research and medical training.

Three-dimensional tissue models already exist, but they lack the important properties of a real tissue. Therefore, scientists led by Prof. Dieter Pahr from the Department of Biomechanics are going to first analyse the biomechanical tissue properties and then investigate which materials are suitable for the representation of realistic tissue.

For their work, the researchers are cooperating with the Vienna University of Technology and ACMIT GmbH.
