The group recommended, inter alia, an appropriate consideration of the limitations and uncertainties of both results from animal testing and alternative approaches. It must be clear what kind of adverse effects caused by the current practice of safety assessment could be compensated by new methods and where there is still a need for research. Different integrated systems to evaluate different types of nanomaterials are necessary.
