Hesse: Three Professorships for less animal testing Featured

The Hessian state government wants to contribute to the reduction of animal experiments with two new professorships and a reoccupation of a further professorship. At two locations - Frankfurt and Giessen - this project is supported with 2 million euros in the next five years.

At the Goethe University in Frankfurt a new professional chair is intended for the development of animal-free methods to test new drugs. At the Veterinary Faculty of the Justus-Liebig University of Giessen an unoccupied animal welfare professorship will be manned. Additionally, a junior professorship will be established to promote young scientists. Both Giessen professors will be engaged with the reduction of animal suffering in animal experiments as well as with animal-free methods.
