ECEAE given stakeholder status at Caracal Featured

The European Commission has granted stakeholder status to the European Coalition to End Animal Experiments (ECEAE) for the meetings of the Competent Authorities for REACH and CLP (Caracal). The seat will be shared with a second European animal welfare organisation, Eurogroup for Animals.

The decision has immediate effect, with Kirsty Reid of Eurogroup for Animals attending the next Caracal meeting in Brussels at the end of November. ECEAE hopes the move marks the start of better representation of animal welfare groups in the REACH process.

When the Caracal committee was founded, only one animal rights organisation was allowed stakeholder status.
