  • Description:

    At the Center for Pharmaceutical Process Engineering (PVZ) the position of a

    Leader of the Junior Research Group „Reproducibility of Data obtained from Cell-Based Assays“

    is to be filled starting June 1st, 2020. The new research group to be established will focus on the accuracy, reproducibility and validity of sensory measurement data obtained with cells, cell culture models, organ-on-chip systems and other animal experiment replacement methods, thus systematically gaining valuable insights leading to established standards and a higher acceptance of these tools in disease and drug research. The research group would preferably deal with questions concerning the precise and reproducible measurement of cell functions and cell responses to active substances as well as low concentrations of active substances in biological environments such as those encountered in drug development, and the statistical processing and evaluation of such data. The group includes two university-funded positions for doctoral students and is expected to be extended via externally funded researchers.
    Suitable applicants should have an academic background in bioprocess engineering, biotechnology, pharmacy, analytics, biophysics, metrology or similar. They should already have carried out interdisciplinary research at the interface between the fields of engineering and life sciences during their doctorate or after, such as

    * Cell-based assays on-chip formats
    * Biosensors and data evaluation
    * Measurement technology and analytics in the life sciences

  • Qualifications:

    We are looking for candidates with international research experience (at least 12 months out-side of Germany) who were awarded a Ph.D. not more than 6 years ago.

    The expected research requires a strong interdisciplinary orientation of the group and allows interaction with many research initiatives at and around the TU. The Technische Universität Braunschweig is a member of the Braunschweig-Hannover Scientific Alliance. Applicants are therefore expected to be willing to participate in coordinated interdisciplinary programs and to contribute to the cooperation of the technically oriented universities in Lower Saxony. Prerequisites for the position are a university degree with a doctorate, relevant research work with outstanding scientific achievements, the ability to carry out and coordinate interdisciplinary research work with dedication and to acquire third-party funds. At the Technische Universität Braunschweig, 20,300 students and 3,500 employees form an academic community. Engineer-ing and life sciences are closely linked with economics and social sciences, humanities and education. We stand for strategic and performance-oriented thinking and multi-layered net-working with our partners in business and society and for intensive international cooperation. With more than 20 renowned research institutions, Braunschweig is one of the most research-intensive regions in Europe with a flair for scientists and their families.

  • How to apply:

    The position is limited to 4 years and salaried according to scale TVL E-14. The Technische Universität Braunschweig strives to increase the proportion of women and therefore strongly encourages women to apply. Women are given preference if they have an equivalent qualification. Applications from scientists and scholars from abroad are expressly welcome. Handi-capped applicants are given preference if they have the same qualifications.
