| Job description |
Our laboratory investigates structure/function relationships of integral membrane proteins of various biological functions and develops paradigmatic model systems. In particular, we are interested in how protein function is related to structural properties of transmembrane helices, like their self-interaction and their conformational dynamics (see also: www.wzw.tum.de/biopolymere/). To strengthen our team, we are looking for a scientist working in one of the following projects:
- Alzheimer research: conformational dynamics and interaction of the Alzheimer precursor protein transmembrane helix
- transmembrane helix-helix interactions: genome-wide analysis of helix-helix interfaces
- membrane fusion: structure/function analysis of SNARE proteins and related peptide models |
| Qualifications |
Depending on the favored research area, interested and motivated applicants should have a background in plasmid cloning, protein biochemistry, molecular modelling and/or mass spectrometry. The candidate should be interested in developing an own research profile within the scientific framework of the lab. We offer a well-equipped, modern and highly interactive research environment within the Department of Basic Life Sciences of TUM and the Munich Center of Integrated Protein Science (CIPSM). The position (E13/A13) is for initially 3 years with the option of extension. It can be filled at the postdoc level for newly graduated PhDs (biochemistry, biology, biophysics, chemistry) or at the advanced level of “Habilitand” (senior postdoc) for scientifically more advanced candidates as of October 2012 or later. |
