New grant programme of Daimler and Benz foundation for young post graduates and junior professors as of 1 January 2012 Featured

From 1 January 2012, postgraduates and junior professors can receive financial support of up to 20 000 euro per year during the early phase of their scientific work. Young researchers in comparable positions will also be eligible, such as independent leaders of junior research groups.

Junior scientists of all disciplines and all scientific topics can apply for funding, including those developing replacement methods for animal experiments. A prerequisite for taking part in the funding program is an institutional connection to a German university or a German scientific institution, and the implementation of an own scientific scheme. Applicants should not be older than thirty-five at the planned beginning of the research programme funding is applied for.

Applications for the first funding can be submitted by 15 November 2012.

The beneficiaries may use the 20,000 euro funds at their own discretion and according to their own needs, for financing computers, technical equipment, scientific assistants, expeditions or the attendance of conferences. Not included are printing costs or expendable items.

Beneficiaries may apply for further 2500 euros for organising scientific conferences of their own. The funding is granted for a period of two years and may be extended for a further year subject to special request.
