Austria: 2010 less animal experimentation Featured

In 2010, 187,236 laboratory animals were used in Austria. mainly mice. In the year before, 207,738 animals were used.

While in 2009 the numbers had been increased in compare to 2008, the numbers of 2010 show a definite decline of 6,7 per cent.

As part of the experiments and tests, mice are still used most frequently (148,567 animals), followed by rabbits (16,584). Here, the number increased slighty.
