Workshop: Computer Simulations and the Changing Face of Scientific Experimentation Featured

The workshop intends philosophical and historical discussion about the relation between computer simulations and experimentation.

Computer simulations are increasingly entering realms that have formerly been reserved for experimentation. In this workshop the organisators want to address questions like: How are simulations related to experiments? When can simulations replace experiments? When are experiments still needed? How can simulations and experiments interact? What are successful research patterns for “computer experiments”? How did these issues change historically throughout the 50+ years in which simulation has been practiced?

Extended deadline for submissions: March 31st, 2011
