While the EU Commission itself has produced a report, written by Pascal Lamy, which recommended a doubling of investment in research and development, the finance ministers of the member states would like to cut off precisely this branch on which they are sitting.
Strong criticism therefore came as expected, among other things from the University Rector's Conference.
A conference on investments in research and innovation will be held on the 6th of September between 3 pm and 5.30 pm in Brussels. Speakers are for instance Carlos Moedas, EU Commissioner for Research, Science and Innovation, as well as Luc Soete from the EU Expert Committee on Research, Innovation and Science, Politics, and others.
