Innovative, ground-breaking scientific work can be awarded which contribute to the development of methods and procedures to replace or reduce animal experiments. According to the principles of the 3R, such methods also can be awarded subordinately which have the goal to improve housing conditions of laboratory animals in order to reduce pain, suffering or harm in experiments (refinement).
Primarily, young researchers are encouraged to apply.
The prize is worth a total of euros 25,000.
