DFG promotes lab-on-a-chip research group Featured

In the next few years the Leipzig research group "Integrated chemical micro laboratories" will be supported with a research funding from the German Research Foundation (DFG).

Aim is to combine and expand chemical syntheses of the micro-scale chip systems with the possibilities of miniaturized analytics, as it said in a recent press release from the DFG.

For instance, with the help of the micro-laboratories new pharmaceutical agents could be developed and the energy and resource consumption of chemical processes in high throughput procedure could be minimized.

Spokesman of the research group is Prof. Detlev Belder from the Department of Analytical Chemistry of the Leipzig University. One focus of the working group is the miniaturization of analytical analytical separation technologies such as the microchip electrophoresis.
