New Imaging techniques in Israel: A microscope makes blood flow in the body visible Featured

Israeli researchers have developed a microscope that allows to look to observe the blood flow through the skin observing. Even individual cells can be looked at without marking them with a colour or a radioactive substance.

The new imaging technique makes it possible to perform a blood test without a previous invasive procedure. The microscope was developed by a research team led by Lior Golan at the Israel Institute of Technology (Technion) in Haifa. The scientists plan a follow-up type of the device in pocket size, which can be used in different parts of the body allowing rapid diagnosis of infectious diseases, anemia and circulatory disorders.

The researchers are confident that the potential applications are much broader.
