According to the Enquete Commission, the open access principle in German research funding and policy as well as in German higher education landscape, that means a free access to scientific literature and materials science, should be moved forward with a cooperative development of a sustainable open access strategy. An important signal could be the open access publication of journals which are issued by professional societies, could be read in the recommendations.
