Baden-Württemberg's government supports development of artificial micro-organs Featured

Baden-Württemberg's Ministry of Finance and Economy is to contribute 500,000 euros in funding to the joint research project "Artificial Micro-Organs", a collaboration between the Natural and Medical Sciences Institute (NMI) and the Institute for Micro and Information Technology based in Villingen-Schwenningen.

The goal of the project is to develop a platform for micro-organs and complexer cell systems. Using such test systems, it is possible to obtain reliable findings on the safety and efficacy of potential drug candidates at an early stage. This means that animal tests and expenses can be reduced.
