Israel bans cosmetics tested on animals Featured

With the January 1, 2013, import, marketing of cosmetics, detergents tested on animals officially barred by law. The new law was enacted as an addition to a law enacted in 2007, which banned animal testing in the Israeli Cosmetics Industry altogether.

The law makes certain exceptions for items produced for medicinal products, which are not categorized as drugs; and follows the guidelines set by the European Union, which enacted a similar ban in 2004.

In contrast to ynetnew`s report in this year´s march the European Parliament is going to decide about the last stage of the EU directive - the sales ban without exceptions.
